Kuching, Sarawak (Part 1)

I was in Kuching, Sarawak last month for meeting/training. And I have to say, my company really does treat its employees pretty well. THANK YOU BAYER HEALTHCARE! It has been an amazing two years with you. :) As this was a business trip, I was stuck inside the hotel and its main ballroom for trainings most of the time. Even dinner was pre-arranged, so there wasn't any chance for local street food or much sight seeing. :( But I'll share whatever and wherever I've been okay? :)

#1. Pullman Hotel, Kuching

Pullman Kuching - 5 star hotel. Super nice wei I tell you. The toilet is twice the size of my bathroom. And the housekeeping service - EXCELLENT! Whatever we needed, after calling the room service number, they appear in less than 1 minutes. Like got teleporting power. Haha.
Love the gym, love the swimming pool, love the rooms.

But then the food is abit..... Heh. No comment. Probably because I'm from Penang. But I'm usually the kind who doesn't complaint much about food. But this time.... Heh. No comment. Mix FM taught me not to complaint about people's food on my blog. :P I shall be a good girl.

#2. White Rajah Residence
Sir James Brooke's previous home. If you don't know who James Brooke is you were probably dreaming in Malaysian history class. BAD STUDENT. :P
We had dinner there. Food catered by Hilton Hotel. So once again, no street food. But the ice carving was pretty impressive. Hehe.

#3. The Junk Restaurant
This is one cool hang out place!!! :) The decor was awesome, unique interior, service was excellent, great atmosphere and most important of all... GOOD FOOD. My colleagues and I only tried their lamb shank and salmon. Perfecto! ;)

Hai Boey Seafood Restaurant - Gertak Sanggul

Me: "Do you like seafood?"

Rach: "Depends on what it is. I think it's very sad to eat squid and octopus 'cause they're too cute. :((( Eat fish! Fish is ugly."

Joke of the day I tell you. HAHAHAHA.

No. I didn't go for seafood with Rachel. I went with my family. =) It's been a while since we last had seafood the Penang way, so I suggested that we head to either Tambun or Gertak Sanggul for some. We drove pass quite a few restaurants, like Khun Thai, some famous Mee Udang place, and another ikan bakar stall full of people, but ended up in Hai Boey Seafood Restaurant. =) Also full of human beings.

Took us almost 15 minutes to wait for a table. Fuhhh. But it was worth it. =)

Service: 7/10

Will definitely go back again and again. Should try their Claypot steam fish next round. Seems like it's their signature dish. =) And if your tummy can wait, try going after 8pm. It's less packed after 8pm. ;)

Favourite Christmas to New Year Moments

1. Planning & throwing my church's Children's Christmas Party

*A million thank you to everyone who made this party a success, especially Yi Lin, who is the backbone of the whole team. :) And may these children come to know the Lord at an early age. :)

2. Realizing how long we've been childhood best friends. "Best friends know how retarded each other are". I clearly know how retarded Woan Sein can be. HAHAHA.

8. Receiving a box of chocolate cake topped with fresh strawberries from XiuQi!! :)))

9. Singing karaoke with a bunch of drunk girls. Drink water also drunk... Lol.

10. Having breakfast and healthy, encouraging conversation with my soul mate, Mel. :) I personally think the conversation was wayyyyyy healthier to the soul than our breakfast. Heh.

The year has ended. Time to start a great new year.

Just in case you're wondering, don't have to go Google translate la. My title is translated as "Friends are getting married". It's actually a sad song by Yu Heng, a very talented local artist, describing how she feels when her friends are getting married, while she deals with the lost of someone she loves. Haih. But still, she believes someday, she'll find love again. =)

But anyhow, this post is not about any sad drama stories!

We had our Youth Impact gathering yesterday, to celebrate Sam and Nicholes upcoming wedding; and also to congratulate Reuben for getting engaged just a few days ago. =) All grown up men now. I still remember they were a bunch of monkeys during schooling days. Still are, but matured monkeys now. HAHAHA.

And it was really nice to meet up with the beautiful-beautiful sekalian.
Girls, someday, it will be our turn. When the right one comes along. =)

So...we had lunch at this place called Little Big Cafe, in Nagore road (Opposite Pik Nik).
They serve western. So please don't expect Hokkien mee inside. Heh.

I don't know what are your burger preferences, but their Bacon Swiss Godzilla is the BOMB!!! *drools*

Theresa said their salmon burger was good too, Ah Ping like their wasabi burger (but Deswyn hated it - he said eat two bowls of hokkien mee wayyyyyy better HAHA), Woan Sein's Sleeping Beauty burger was great too. =) Definitely a place I would recommend to friends, just that you may want to load up your wallet 'cause it isn't exactly the price of your usual ramli burgers. ;)

Many of us are leaving for somewhere after this. It's funny how life is sometimes, from small little monsters to being who we are today. I guess through the good and bad, we really have to thank God for holding us close and helping us through. None of us could have possibly still be here if it wasn't for His love, grace and mercy. I know I wouldn't. =)
